Four chairs, unhurried appointments and a short walk-in window. We cut every hair type, we say what will and won’t hold, and we finish properly.

Hours & walk-ins

When the chairs are free

Appointments run to the clock, so a late arrival usually becomes a shorter cut rather than a longer wait for the person after you.

The walk-in window

Tuesday to Thursday, 10am until 12pm, we keep two chairs unbooked for anyone who turns up. First come, first cut. If both chairs are busy we’ll tell you the honest wait rather than take your name and hope.

Quietest times

Midweek mornings and the first hour on Thursday are the calmest. Friday evening and Saturday before noon are the busiest — if you want a long beard reshape, avoid them.

Your visit

How an appointment runs

If you have never been in, this is the whole thing, start to finish.

  1. A two-minute talk first

Before anything is switched on, your barber looks at how your hair sits, asks what you liked and hated about the last cut, and agrees a length out loud.

  2. Wash, unless you’d rather not

Most cuts start at the basin. Curl and coil cuts are shaped dry instead, because wet hair lies about its length.

  3. The cut, checked twice

We stop halfway and hand you the mirror while changes are still easy. Speak up then — that is what the pause is for.

  4. Finish and a plan

Neck cleaned, product only if you want it, and a straight answer on when to come back for this shape to still look deliberate.

The chairs

Who you’ll be sitting with

Ask for a name in the form and we’ll hold that chair. No preference is fine too — we’ll give you whoever is free soonest.

Mara Olwen

Scissor work & restyles

Mara opened the shop and still takes the longest bookings. If you want to grow something out without looking like you gave up halfway, she is the one to sit with.

Best for
Restyles, grow-out plans, fine hair

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

Dez Ruiz

Fades & line-ups

Dez is quick and exact with clippers and spends real time on the back of the neck, which is the part you can’t see and everyone else can.

Best for
Skin fades, line-ups, head shaves
In the shop
Wednesday to Saturday

Kit Abara

Curls, coils & beards

Kit cuts textured hair dry and shapes beards against the face rather than to a template. Also the calmest chair for a first-time nervous customer.

Best for
Curl and coil cuts, beard reshapes

The last five minutes — edges, neck and a cold towel — are where a cut starts looking paid for.

What to ask for

Say this, not “just a bit off”

Four things that make a cut land the way you pictured it. None of them require knowing the names of anything.

  • Describe the result, not the tool

“I want it to sit flat without product” tells your barber more than a guard number. Numbers mean different lengths on different hair anyway.

  • Bring a photo, with a caveat

Photos are genuinely useful. Bring one, and we’ll tell you honestly which parts of it your hair will do and which parts belong to someone else’s hairline.

  • Say when you next need to look sharp

A cut for a Saturday three weeks out is shaped differently from one for tomorrow. Tell us the date and we’ll leave the right weight in.

  • Be blunt about upkeep

If you own no products and will not start, say so. There is a version of almost every shape that survives a towel dry and nothing else.

Questions

Asked often enough to write down

Do I have to book, or can I just turn up?

Both work. Two chairs stay unbooked Tuesday to Thursday between 10am and 12pm for walk-ins. Any other time, send the form and we’ll confirm a slot by email — turning up unannounced on a Friday evening will usually mean being turned away.

How late is late?

Up to ten minutes and we’ll still do the full service. Beyond that we’ll do what fits in the time left, at the price of the service you booked, so the person after you isn’t punished for it. If you’re going to be very late, email and we’ll move you.

Can you cut curly, coily or Afro-textured hair?

Yes, and it’s a separate booking length for a reason. Textured hair is cut dry here so the shape you see in the chair is the shape you leave with. Kit takes most of these bookings; Dez handles fades into texture.

My hair is fine and thinning — what actually helps?

Shorter sides, a soft rather than hard outline, and no heavy product. We won’t sell you a fibre that promises coverage. We will cut a shape that stops advertising the gaps, and tell you which lengths will work against you.

Do you cut children’s hair?

Under twelves, yes, with a grown-up staying in the shop. Midweek mornings are quietest, which matters a lot for a first haircut. We don’t have a booster seat car, just a normal chair and a cushion.

Will I be sold products at the end?

No. We keep a small shelf of things we actually use on the floor, and we’ll only mention one if you ask how to get the finish at home. Saying no changes nothing about the cut you just had.

How do I change or cancel a requested chair?

Reply to the confirmation email. A day’s notice is plenty and there’s no charge — it simply frees the slot for someone on the list. Repeated no-shows mean we’ll ask you to use the walk-in window instead.
